Method for refining methylnaphthalene containing oil

A method for refining a methylnaphthalene-containing oil is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of azeotropically distilling the methylnaphthalene-containing oil with ethylene glycol to produce a methylnaphthalene fraction having a reduced content of nitrogen compounds; and hydrodesulfurizing the methylnaphthalene fraction in the presence of a catalyst having loaded thereto at least one member selected from molybdenum, cobalt and nickel.
