In order to provide a 6.5 calibre cartridge for rifles, the case of which is suitable for both light and heavy projectiles without adversely affecting accuracy, thus producing an increase in the efficiency of the propellant charge, a reduction in the stress on the barrel and breech of the weapon and the production of shorter and hence lighter weapons and an increase in the useful life of the reloadable case, a cartridge has been developed distinguished by reduced length of the virtually cylindrical region (117) of the case (11) between the base (111) and the transition (113) to the neck (114) of the case and an extremely flat transition (113) in the neck (114), and in connection therewith a suitable cartridge chamber has also been developed.
