catalyst and its preparation process and its use in the polymerization of tetrahydrofuran to produce polytetramethylene ether glycol. the catalyst is a mixture of fluorinated resin containing sulfonic acid groups and a fluorinated resin containing carboxylic acid groups.the catalyst is partially dried to contain 1000 to 2000 ppm water, so that when it is used for polymerizing tetrahydrofuran ether glycol and polytetramethylene has a weight average molecular weight to number between 250 and 3000.
