Process for the production of mass dyed shaped structures from aromatic polyamides and premix for the production of mass dyed shaped structures

The prodn. of bulk-pigmented fibres or film comprises (a) prepn. of a masterbatch (A) by grinding a compsn. contg. a polar aprotic organic solvent (A1), 5-30 wt.% aromatic polyamide (A2) and 0.5-5 wt.% solid colour pigment (A3) so that (A3) has a mean particle dia. of less than 200 (pref. 80-150) nm, (b) prepn. of an extrusion soln. (B) by mixing (A) with a soln. contg. solvent (A1) and polyamide (A2) just before the extrusion nozzle, (c) extruding soln. (B) through a nozzle with holes of a given no. and shape, to give prim. fibre or film, (d) removing the solvent by a known method to give low-solvent or solvent-free fibre or film with sufficient mechanical stability and lack of stickiness for further processing, and (e) opt. stretching the fibre or film by know methods. Also claimed are bulk-pigmented aromatic polyamide fibres, esp. with a single filament titre of at least 2.0 dtex, contg. polyamide (A2) and 0.5-5 wt.% pigment (A3) with particle dia. as above, with a smooth fibre surface such that the amt. of reflected light parallel to the fibre axis is at least 6%, pref. 7-10%. Also claimed is a masterbatch (A) for the prodn. of formed aromatic polyamide prods., contg. (a) 0.5-5 wt.% (A2), (b) 5-30 wt.% (A3) and (c) 65-94.5 wt.% solvent (A1), pref. the same solvent as used for the spinning soln.
