Oligomeric aliphatic HALS phosph(on)ites of formula (I), contg. 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1,4-diyl gps. in the chain, are new: L = -O-R2-Pip- or -O-Pip-R2-; Pip = 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1,4-diyl with R2 in the 1-position; R1 = 1-25C alkyl; 2-25C alkyl with O, S or =N-R3 in the chain; 2-24C alkenyl; opt. 1-4C alkyl-substd. 5-15C cycloalk(en)yl, phenyl or 7-9C phenylalkyl; or tetrahydroabietyl; R2 = 1-18C alkylene; 2-18C alkylene with O, S or =N-R3 in the chain; 4-8C alkenylene; or phenylethylene; R3 = H or 1-8C alkyl; m = 0 or 1; n = 2-25. Also claimed are oligomers (IA) obtd. by reacting cpd(s). of the formula R1-(O)m-PCl2 (II) with cpd(s). of the formula HO-R2-Pip-OH (III); and compsns. contg. an organic material subjected to oxidative, thermal or photo-degradation and oligomer(s) (I) or (IA).
