The present invention relates to a method for improving the printing properties of a cotton-containing fabric. In particular, the present invention preprocesses the fabric with a cellulase prior to printing the fabric to improve the trimming properties of the fabric, such as the degree of absorbency, clarity, pigment bleeding, and the like. The process generally involves the treatment of a cotton-containing fabric with an aqueous cellulase preparation, preferably an aqueous cellulase solution under agitation conditions.
