FIELD: computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: converter has AND gates 1,2, and NOR gates 5,6. Introduction of OR gates 3,4 and EXCLUSIVE NOR gate 7 along with organization of relevant connections has enabled almost four-fold simplification of circuit arrangement as compared to prototype. First and second digits of input Gray code are applied to inputs 8,9 in direct form, third digit, to input 10 in inverted form, and fourth (most significant) digit, to input 11 in direct form and to input 12 in inverted form. Direct code with bit weights "1", "2", "4", and "8" are built up across outputs 13-16. EFFECT: simplified design of converter used in digital information processing systems. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
