The device has in a housing (1) a series of lamps (3), which are arranged at intervals from one another, are visible from outside the housing and light up successively thanks to an electronic system arranged in the housing when the user of the battery driven device actuates a switch (4). The lamps shine in different colours, preferably firstly red and lastly green. The device serves to influence human eating behaviour in the sense that the user, who himself actuates the device, eats much more slowly, and during the phase when the red lamp lights up is supposed to chew the food portion last supplied and is to swallow said portion only once the green lamp lights up.
