The device has an endless conveyor belt (6) for extracting items (25) which are stored in large quantities, or in different types, in a bunker (7), and which are especially in synthetic or paper bags, or in small cartons. The conveyor belt has at least a lower section which is guided along the inside of the bunker, and an upper section which is above an opening (26) or region of the bunker which is free of items. Items at the top of the conveyor belt either fall back into the bunker, or are withdrawn by a transverse extraction system, which runs laterally from below the upper end section of the conveyor belt. The items are separated, or transported in groups, continuously or intermittently, to a loading device (9) to which packaging (10) is guided. The device can control the supply of individual packaging and/or the position of a gap (100) in the packaging arrangement, which is to be filled.
