The monochromatisation arrangement (23) contains a filter changeover device for monochromatising a primary beam to defined wavelengths. The primary beam is divided into partial beams by a dichroitical colour divider. The partial beams are alternately passed and blocked by a chopper and monochromatised by interference filters. The monochromatised partial beams are combined into a single beam (22) with alternating wavelengths via deflection mirrors and a further dichroitical colour divider. In the top illumination microscopy the single beam (22) is introduced to a microscope (25) which is controlled by a microcomputer (34). USE/ADVANTAGE - For rapid periodic monochromatisation of primary beam at different discrete wavelengths with high degree of time resolution and error elimination.
