The motor control uses a microprocessor (1) with a program memory and a working memory. An adaption circuit matches partic. requirements and a driver stage is coupled to the stepping motor control circuit. Each of the individual stepping motor phases (15,17) receives a variable clocked supply voltage with independent modulation of the motor phases under control of the microprocessor. Alternatively the modulation of the motor phases is effected via an additional digital circuit, for reducing the loading on the microprocessor. -
