The invention describes a device for the determination of the potential difference between a mucosal surface and a reference point on the body of a mammal, in particular for the diagnosis of mucoviscidosis. There is used a measuring electrode made of a noble metal which has a protective layer in a shaft region. The method of producing the measuring electrode resides in electrolysis of the shaft with an electrolyte which reacts with the noble metal to produce the protective layer. IMAGE
