A swing-out sliding door for vehicles, in particular vehicles of public passenger transportation. Arranged on the inside of the door wing (2), essentially in the region of the horizontal centre, is a running rail (4) which runs horizontally and in which a roller guide (5) engages. The roller guide (5) is mounted in an intermediate holder (6.2) which is mounted, such that it can be displaced in the vertical direction, on a holder (6) connected fixedly to the vehicle body. During the opening movement of the door the door wing (2) is initially guided outwards and upwards, in a first movement step (Ö1), in order subsequently to be displaced laterally on the roller guide (5) in a second movement step. The door wing (2), which is of elastic design, is pretensioned in such a manner that, when the side edges of the door wing are placed onto the mating faces of the door frame (1), as a consequence of the pretensioning force a contact pressure results which ensures that the door is closed all the way around.
