Process for decontaminating polluted soils, sludges, ashes, sediments or the like

To decontaminate soils contaminated with inorganic and/or organic pollutants, the soils are treated with an extraction medium of a solvent and substances mobilising the pollutants. Mobilising substances used are individual substances or mixtures from the substance class consisting of carboxylic acids and derivatives thereof, in particular dicarboxylic acids, such as oxalic acid. The treatment is performed at a pH at which the mobilising substances are not used as acids but as complexing agents and in such a way that the extraction medium is circulated, the extraction medium contaminated by the pollutants after soil treatment being separated off from the purified soil, then the pollutants being separated from the extraction medium and finally the extraction medium being reused for further treatments.
