The invention consists of an expert system for beam-welding processes in electron-beam or laser installations, comprising an input unit (14) and a computer unit (10) with a material data bank (11) in which data such as material numbers, chemical analysis values, designations and the like are filed, and a data bank (12) for welds made in practice and/or precalculated welds, in which data such as material combinations, welding parameters, mechanical-technological results and verbal descriptions are filed, and a data bank (13) for theoretical principles in which data such as formulae, diagrams, characteristics, verbal descriptions and the like are filed, and the computer unit (10) determines the technological properties of the welded seam and/or data concerning the welding process and/or data concerning the quality assurance (Fig. 1).
