The hair treatment composition contains 0.1 to 20 % by weight of dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether, 0.1 to 20 % by weight of propanediol and/or butanediol and 0.01 to 3 % by weight of coconut alkyldimethylammonium betaine. In addition, the ready-for-use preparation has a pH in the acidic pH range. The composition described has an excellent curl activating capacity and brings about excellent combability and pronounced gloss on the hair. In addition, it counteracts dry hair and brittle hair.
