These antiglare spectacles comprise two lenses (2) mounted in a frame (3). The lenses (2) are fitted with an antiglare device (5) directly above the optic axis (4) (Fig. 1). The antiglare device (5) comprises a gold layer applied by vapour deposition in a wedge shape (Fig. 3). The antiglare effect of this gold layer is due to the selective reflection of its surface. The latter absorbs blue light, reflects red and yellow waves and is transparent to the green spectral range. This refers to the colour transparency. If the driver wants to avoid the danger of flash blindness he inclines his head slightly around the optic axis (4) and sees the roadway in front of him in glare-free state through the antiglare device (5). The spectral colours, even green, are retained pure in accordance with the brightness. A gradual change between the free lens part and the antiglare part means that adaptation by the eye is hardly required. These antiglare spectacles offer the same adequate protection against sun low in the sky as at extremely bright times of the day. IMAGE
