Process for treating and utilising biomasses and biogenic sludges, in particular sewage sludges

The object underlying the invention is to specify a process which is suitable for the simple and low-energy treatment of sewage sludges or other biological sludges and, without use of thermal energy, leads to a product having a low water content and high mechanical strength and high fertiliser value. The product is also to be odour-free, storable, pourable and easily dosable in order to be directly usable in agriculture and to have a long-lasting fertiliser action. The object is achieved with a process for producing fertilisers or soil improvers from sewage sludge, in which the predewatered sewage sludge is mixed with sheet-silicate, swellable binder and fine-grained to coarse-grained stone dust (flour), aerated concreted flour or sawdust. The mixture is mixed by rollers in a high-pressure agglomerisation apparatus and is pressed through pressing ducts with liberation of frictional energy, temperatures of more than 100 DEG C arising, the product is sanitised and an organic/inorganic structural matrix is formed. Subsequent drying is not necessary.
