Planar radiator for direct reception of television and satellite signals

The radiator has an array of microstrip surface resonators, sized to ensure that the oscillation of the planar resonators is within the spectral range of the DBS band between 11.7 GHz and 12.5 GHz. The resonators are electromagnetically energised to generate 2 orthogonal linear oscillation modes offset by 90 degrees, with a phase synchronised supply provided by a coupling network. The sum signal at the supply point of the resonator array is fed to the transistor stage of a DBS band converter, together with the radiator array output, with an impedance matching dielectric thin-film used simultaneously as a container element on the radiator side.
