The invention concerns a horizontally sliding window with at least one wing (2) which can be moved out of the plane of the window frame in a direction perpendicular to the frame. The window is supported on rollers on a bottom beam to run horizontally, parallel to the plane of the window frame, along a first guide groove (7) and, when moving perpendicularly (8), moves along a second guide groove in the top beam. The window wing is secured in the closed position by a multiplicity of locking elements which are operated together by a revolving actuator actuated by a lever (the window handle) and which can be released to move the window wing. The invention proposes that the top and bottom beams of the window frame are fitted with bottom and top shaped-section guideways (6) which project out beyond the plane of the window frame, the bottom guideway including the first guide groove for the bottom rollers and the top guideway including the second groove for the top rollers.
