Sepn. of di:methyl carbonate and methanol from mixt. by pervaporation

Sepn. of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and MeOH from their mixts. comprises pervaporation, in which DMC passes through the membrane preferentially and is concentrated in the permeate, whilst MeOH is retained preferentially and is concentrated in the retentate. A membrane of polydimethylsiloxane is used. Pervaporation is carried out at 30-70, esp. 40-65 deg C and pressures of 1-700, esp. 20-200 hPa on the permeate side. DMC is recovered from the permeate by distillation.
