Cement prodn. from asbestos cement or sprayed asbestos

The disposal of asbestos cement building elements and sprayed asbestos compsns., with recovery of valves, comprises subjecting the compsn. and additives to thermally-initiated conversion, similar to that used in cement mfr., at a temp. of at least 1050 deg C, to convert the asbestos-type material into an asbestos-free mineral binder like cement, and hence a constituent of hydraulically-active Ca silicate binder with properties of standard cement. Also claimed is hydraulically-active Ca silicate binder with properties of standard cement and prods. mfd. from this, using material made by the above method.
