Composite yarn with excellent crease-resist stiffness, stiffness and elasticity

The invention provides a composite yarn which comprises a filament or filaments and short fibres and which exhibits excellent crease-resist (drapery-preventing) stiffness, stiffness and elasticity. The filament/filaments are stably overspun by the short fibres. The composite yarn exhibits excellent uniformity in that it has fewer neps. In the manufacture of the yarn, a fibre bundle with a filament/filaments in the core, the strength coefficient of the filament/filaments being 172 x 103 or more, and short fibres which consist only of short fibres are true-twisted to wind them round each other.
