PURPOSE: To enable motion characteristic of a gear to be evaluated accurately by using a value which is obtained by differentiating a gear shape error by a rotary angle of the gear. ;CONSTITUTION: A concept of instantaneous basic circles C0 and C which signify a circle which is in contact with a tangent line at each position on a gear-shape curve of a gear and has a center 0 of the gear is introduced and the gear shape is described by using a rotary angle θ of the gear and a gear shape error A p which is a deviation from an involute curve of the gear shape curve. Then, an instantaneous basic circle radius Rb (θ) can be approximated by a sum of an ideal basic circle radius Rb0 and a differential value which is obtained by differentiating the gear shape error Δp with a rotary angle θ, the differential value is a basic circle radius error A R5, and motion characteristics of gear strongly depend on the basic circle radius error ΔRb. Therefore, after the gear shape error Δp is acquired by relating it to the rotary angle, the gear shape error Δp is differentiated by the rotary angle θ, thus acquiring the basic circle radius error ΔRb.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
