This invention provides a new method of making secosterolcompounds, and in particular to the preparation of 1.alpha.-hydroxy-homopregnacalciferol which is a secosterol compound that iseffective in inducing the differentiation of malignant cells andis therefore useful for the treatment of malignancies such asleukemia.
