The subject of the invention is a method and machines for automatically distributing evenly spaced transverse reinforcements along a bench for prefabricating reinforced or prestressed concrete slabs, and for fixing them to the longitudinal reinforcements. A machine according to the invention includes a self-propelled carriage 1a, 1b, 2, 3 which moves on rails located on either side of a prefabricating bench. The machine includes straps 10 forming a cradle in which a bundle 9 of reinforcements is deposited. The straps unroll over drums 13. The rods form a layer which rolls on an inclined plane 14 at the end of which are located the rollers 17 which take up the rods one by one.
