The invention discloses novel alkylpolyosides, compositions containing same, process for their preparation and applications as surface agents. These derivatives are alkylpolyoside hemisulphosuccinates based on the general formula (I), in which: R is an alkenyl radical or, preferably, a straight or branched chain alkyl radical having from 6 to 32 carbon atoms, S denotes a sugar residue, M is an alkali metal, either one of R1 or R2 is a SO3M group in which M denotes an alkali metal, the other denoting a hydrogen atom, x is an integer between 1 and 10, preferably between 1 and 4. Application especially in cosmetics, parapharmaceuticals and household detergents.
