Each male endpiece (2) has side flanges (14) whose end supports (15) butt in the interior of a female coupling (1). The male pieces have optical fibres (3) in a central part; they are bared to a length of 4-8 mm and are mounted 1-25 micron apart, facing each other. The female connector has a boss (17) with V-shaped protrusions to support the fibres while a channel (19) above receives a downward acting press (20). The male piece has a guide (2a) crossing the bared fibre and to position it relative to the other male piece. The side flanges may be cut away in the lower end to make a support surface against the boss. USE/ADVANTAGE - Monomode and multimode fibres. Simple, cheap, small size.
