A reactor which includes three tanks in series, namely a first contact tank (1) which receives the water to be treated and intended for the direct and rapid oxidizing action by ozone which is introduced into the said tank and set in contact with the liquid (4) to be treated; a second contact tank (2) intended for disinfecting the liquid, into which tank the quantity of ozone is injected which is necessary for maintaining the residual ozone concentration necessary for disinfecting the water within the liquid to be treated; and a third contact tank (3) intended for providing the radical action of the ozone, into which tank, in addition to the ozone, a quantity of hydrogen peroxide is injected which is intended to increase the quantity of OH radicals available for reaction with the pollutants to be removed by oxidation, the treated water being removed from this third tank.
