The invention relates to a pseudodipeptide product obtained by coupling histamine or methyl-substituted histamine to an amino acid having the formula: IMAGE in which X represents a hydrogen atom or an acetyl group, R1, R'1, R2, R'2...Rn and R'n each represent a hydrogen atom or hydrocarbon radical which can be substituted by one or a number of functional groups, and n is an integer greater than or equal to 2, the covalent bond with histamine or methyl-substituted histamine being a peptide bond between the carboxyl radical of the amino acid and the amine radical of the histamine. The pseudodipeptide products of the invention can be used in therapeutic and cosmetological applications using their anti-ageing and anti-degeneration properties of tissues and mucous membranes, and in particular for the treatment of cataracts.
