The addresses of an irregular group of output ports of the node ND cannot be linked by a mathematical relationship. In order to distribute cells applied to the inputs of the node as regularly as possible, the latter includes: incoming terminal modules which determine an internal routing label identifying the set of the group of output ports; and switching elements capable of routing a cell according to a predetermined distribution tree, corresponding to this label. When several branches (BR1, BR2) of the routing tree start from the same switching element (S11), the latter dynamically chooses one of these branches according to an algorithm which may be a function of the instant at which this cell was received. This algorithm may moreover be a function of the order of the switching element in the stage to which it belongs. This algorithm also weights the choice of a branch as a function of the total pass band of the output ports of the node which are accessible via the chosen branch.
