The subject of the invention is a method of coating a tundish for continuous casting of metals, especially steel, in which the material making up the refractory wear coating of the said tundish is made using unburnt (green) natural dolomite or unburnt natural calcite or a mixture of these two materials, chosen with a particle size between 0 and 5 mm, characterised in that the said coating is produced by spraying the said constituent material onto the said tundish through a flame so as to produce, in the said flame, decarbonation of the said dolomite and/or the said calcite. The subject of the invention is also a tundish coating and a tundish thus coated.
