It consists in subjecting a sample of these substances to a radiative flux. The delays, temperature and loss of dry material to combustion are determined and these parameters are combined to give a measure of the fire risk levels. In particular, the loss to combustion is used to define a criticality ratio. The method may be used in particular for establishing a system for warning of forest fires, by virtue of the construction of charts and other mechanical or computerised means. IMAGE
