Signalling device for warning drivers of hazards ahead and slowing them down

The device consists of a threadlike body (1) which may be cylindrical, triangular, flat or rounded, such as a cylindrical nylon thread, 15 millimetres in diameter, which is placed across the road (4) and is covered by a self adhesive strip (2) about 50 centimetres wide, forming a traditional road marking. Several of the threads (1) may be placed under the road marking (2) either side by side or on top of each other. The device can be placed along the edge of a road or across it in either a continuous or broken line, forming a reflective, resonant, visual road marking. The body may be shaped so that it has one flat surface and a convex surface. The body may be attached to the marking strip either on site or in the factory. The marking strip (2) may be painted or coated during or after the laying of the body (1). The body of the device may take the form of an electrical conductor which allows an electrical current to cross the road to run low voltage electrical equipment. A magnetic body may also be used to guide automatic machinery.
