A machine frame 1 has a slide 7 which is horizontally displaceable in the X direction transversely to the workpiece axis and on which is arranged a slide 9 vertically displaceable in the Y direction. The tool head is received in the latter in a circular guide 12 so as to be pivotable about an axis A extending in the X direction. A headstock 3 and a tailstock 4 for receiving the workpiece W are provided to the left and right of the tool head 13 and are movable on the machine frame 1 in the Z direction, i.e. in the axial direction of the workpiece.
