Smoothing r.f. power and A.M. gain versus control signal characteristics in a two stage transmitter amplifier

In a two stage amplifier, each stage has a point of maximum slope on the rf power versus control signal characteristic. By shifting the control signal applied to one stage with respect to that applied to the other, overlap of these two portions, which would increase the slope further, is avoided. Peaks of AM gain are also shifted. Use of a diode 407, 419 as an rf switch/attenuator and temperature compensator is also described. IMAGE
