A rebound stop 34 for a suspension strut 10 is mounted on piston rod 18 between piston assembly 16 and one end of the tube, the rebound stop comprising a substantially rigid metallic ring 54 secured to the piston rod and an annular bumper 56 compressible between the metallic ring and said one end of the tube during a rebound stroke; and means engageable with a substantially flat surface of the bumper on initial contact and compression of the bumper to alter the normal compression characteristics of the bumper, e.g. corrugated spacer 70. The altered compression characteristics reduce noise at the end of the strut rebound travel.
