JAPANESE SYLLABARY AND CHINESE CHARACTER CONVERTING DEVICE AND ITS ENVIRONMENT SETTING METHOD

PURPOSE: To provide the KANA(Japanese syllabary) and KANJI(Chinese character) converting device which can properly set environment even if setting contents are not all understood. CONSTITUTION: When the start of simple setting of environment is inputted from a keyboard S10 and the simple setting is started, a document attribute of 'Japanese document', 'table calculation', or 'English document' is acquired S11 and a list is generated S12. When an operator selects 'English document', a setting item and setting contents for the document attribute 'English document' are obtained S14 and the settings are changed into the obtained setting item name and setting contents S15. For example, 'character kind' is set to 'half-size alphanumeric" and 'combination of punctuation marks" is set to ',.'. The operator can properly set environment without understanding the setting contents.
