PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing an extremely thick steel plate having excellent strength and toughness and small acoustic anisotropy. ;CONSTITUTION: A slab is subjected to force cooling at Trec+100°C or below and at 1°C/s down to a finish rolling start temp. provided that the recrystallization temp. is Trec after rough rolling of the slab and thereafter, the finish rolling is started. The finish rolling is ended at Trec or above. Tempering after hardening right thereafter is possible as well at need.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
