VIDEO OPTIMIZED MEDIA STREAMER FOR GENERATING ISOCHRONOUS DATA STREAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer an isochronous data stream for multimedia on an interface of a computer by providing pluralities of storage nodes for storing a digital representation of a video presentation and an adaptor for converting a compressed data burst sequence signal into an isochronous data stream. ;SOLUTION: A tape storage node 17 is provided with a tape library, which stores a large capacity of the digital representation of the video presentation. In a disk storage node 16, data from the storage node 17 are distributed by the RAID method to pluralities of disk, where the data are stored and from which the data as immediacy video data are fed to a desired communication node 14 via a switch 12. The communication node 14 communicates with users through a communication node 15 provided with standard interfaces such as NTSC and PAL. Furthermore, the streamer is provided with an adaptor that receives the digital representation of SCSI from the storage node 16 and converts the signals into, e.g. NTSC base band analog signals by means of the MPEG method.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
