PURPOSE: To produce a joining material capable of firmly joining a carbonaceous material at a relatively low temp. ;CONSTITUTION: This joining material is composed of an alloy contg. 23 to 95 atomic % In, and the balance Ni, and according to necessary, it contains ≤10 atomic % C and ≤5 atomic % Co. The half or below of In may be substituted by Sn or Pb. This joining material is applied to the surface of a carbonaceous material in a molten state, by which the hard surface layer can be formed on the surface of the carbonaceous material. Since this joining material contains Ni high in affinity to the carboneceous material and In effective for the drop of the m.p., a firm joint part can be formed at a relatively low temp.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
