PURPOSE: To provide filter cloth improving the peeling even of a cake formed by filtering and dehydrating electrolytic sludge under pressure, easily washing off the fine particles containing an iron component deposited on the middle layer of the filter cloth and hard to generate clogging and a filter press equipped with the mechanism fitted to the filter cloth. CONSTITUTION: Filter cloth for pressure filtration and dehydration is produced by plain weave, warp rib weave or warp backed weave and has a structure having a smooth surface and the weft yarns 21, 22 covering the smooth surface are constituted of yarns based on multifilament yarn made of a synthetic resin and the warp yarns 23 of the middle layer of the filter cloth is constituted of monofilament yarn or twist yarn made of a synthetic resin.
