HIGH-PRESSURE OVERHEAD DISTRIBUTION LINE GROUND FAULT LOCATOR SYSTEM AND TRANSMITTER

PURPOSE: To conduct a locating operation in a short time by disconnecting a fault section, and accurately locating the ground fault point of a high-voltage overhead distribution line of a power interrupted state. CONSTITUTION: A low wave front pulse voltage is applied from a transmitter 10 to a stopped distribution line 1. The transmitter 10 steps up the voltage of a battery 11 by a booster circuit 12, and charges a capacitor 14. A switch 15 is closed to generate a slow wave front pulse voltage across the capacitor 14, and applies it to the line 1. If the voltage applied to the fault point 1 becomes a predetermined value or higher, discharge surge occurs, and a traveling wave is received by measuring instruments 21, 31. The position of the point 7 is calculated and located from the difference of receiving times at both the instruments 21 and 31.
