FRICTION MATERIAL CONTAINING BLEND OF ORGANIC FIBER COMPONENT AND ORGANIC PARTICLE COMPONENT

A method for making a dry blend for use in the preparation of a friction material, having the blend: (a) from 25 to 75 weight % of a fibrillated, synehttic, acrylic or aramid polymer fiber having a length ranging from 2mm to 10mm and a diameter of from 8 microns to 50 microns; (b) from above 20 to 60 weight % of a synthetic acrylic or aramid polymer stable fiber having a length of from 0.5mm to 12mm and a diameter of from 8 microns to 50 microns; and (c) from 5 to 55 weight % of a soluble, synthetic acrylic or aramid polymer particles having an average diameter below 60 microns, which comprizing blending components a) and b), along or in combination with component c), in water at a solids content of no more than 5%, drying the resultant blend and adding component c), if not added previously to the resultant dry blend, a dry blend per se.
