PURPOSE: To allow one circuit configuration to use in common for the interface circuit even when a unit bit length of data allocated to each slave station is changed to one over an integer by unifying a data size in a data storage memory to have a smallest bit width among various bit widths allocated to each slave station and storing received and transmitted data. ;CONSTITUTION: A data size of a data storage memory is unified into a smaller bit width (16 bit width) among various bit widths (e.g. 32 bit size and 16 bit size) allocated to slave stations 1-8 or 1-6 to store received data. Thus, when received data are data in the 32-bit width, a 16-bit memory is used for processing high-order and low-order 16 bit data both for transmission and reception in each of the eight slave stations 1-8. Furthermore, when received data are data in the 16-bit width, the 16-bit memory is used for processing 16 bit data both for transmission and reception in each of the 16 slave stations 1-16.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
