PURPOSE: To provide new compounds useful as surface active agents. ;CONSTITUTION: The compounds of the formula I, e.g. sulfosuccinic semi-ester of monoalkylpolyglucoside, are obtained by reacting an α-epoxide of the formula III with the compounds of the formula IV and by allowing thus produced alcohol of the formula V to react with maleic acid. In the formula I, M is K, Mg, NH₄; R₁ is the formula II [wherein R is a 8-20C alkyl; X is H, CH₃; Z is hexose, pentose, sorbitol; (m) is 0 or 1; (n) is 0 to 20; (p) is 1 to 10]; R₂ is M, R, provided that when Z is the solbitol residue, (m) is 1, (n) is 0, and (p) is 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
