PURPOSE: To enable seasonless admiration of alpine plants such as RISIRI HINAGESI (Papaver fauriei) or MIYAMA ODAMAKI (Aquilegia akiensis), very difficult in seed multiplication by effecting a large volume of proliferation using specifically treated tissue sections of these plants. ;CONSTITUTION: The tissue sections of an alpine plant such as RISIRI HINAGESI or MIYAMA ODAMAKI are inoculated and culture in callus-inducing solid culture medium prepared by adding plant hormones comprising auxins and cytokinins to the basic culture medium A containing a carbon source such as sucrose, preferably of 1.0-3.0wt.% concentration and reduced concentrations of inorganic salts, adjusted in pH to 5.0-6.0. Then, the induced calluses are transplanted to the differentiation solid medium prepared by adding the plant hormones such as auxins and cytokinins to the base culture medium B containing carbon source and reduced concentration of inorganic salts and having an adjusted pH to effect culture in a vessel under aerobic conditions to conduct differentiation and propagation whereby these alpine plants are proliferated in a large volume.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
