PURPOSE: To provide a method for applying a master rope which enables hanging of the master rope on a bracket of an electric pole pabely from the ground. ;CONSTITUTION: A rope support arm and a rope engaging arm 8 are arranged vertically at an interval of 90° or more at the tip part of an operation rod 1 with the length thereof roughly equal to the distance between the ground surface and a bracket B of an electric pole. While the tip part of a passing rope D is inserted into a hook at the tip part of the rope support arm, the operation rod 1 is erected from the ground, the rope support arm is engaged with the top surface of the bracket B, and then, the operation rod 1 is turned int he direction of letting the rope engaging arm 8 pass below the bracket B centered on the axis center so that a hook part at the tip of the rope engaging arm 8 engages the tip part of the passing rope D hanging from the bracket B. The hook part is engaged with a weight W provided at the tip part of the passing rope D to pull the rope down to the ground. A master rope E is linked to the tip of the passing rope D and the master rope E is replaced with the passing rope D by pulling the rear end part of the passing rope D to hang the master rope E on the bracket B.
