PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine composition containing a specific benzophenone [b] thiophene, effective for treating smoking-related osteoporosis. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by combining (A) a compound (salt) of the formula R1 and R3 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, a CO-1-6C alkyl, CH2 Ar or CO-Ar [Ar is a (substituted) phenyl]; R2 is pyrrolidine, hexamethyleneimino or piperidino} e.g. 6-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-[4-(2- pyrrolidinoethoxy)benzoyl]benzo[b]thiophene} and (B) a carrier, a diluent or an excipient. The dose of the compound is about 0.1-1,000 mg/day (especially about 50-200 mg/day) and is administered about once to about three times daily.
