PURPOSE: To stabilize generation of pilot arc and plasma arc. ;CONSTITUTION: When a DC current Ia outputted from a DC power unit 2 is caused to flow through an electric circuit 12 for pilot arc generation, the DC current Ia flowing the electric circuit 12 for pilot arc generating, i.e., a pilot current Ip is detected by an electric current detecting means 11, based on the difference between the detected signal of an electric current detecting means 11 and reference signal 22, the DC power unit 2 is controlled so that the DC current Ip is turned to fixed value. Further, when a DC current Ia is caused to flow through an electric circuit 13 for plasma arc generating, a switch 10 is opened to shut off a flow of the pilot current Ip, also the DC current Ia flowing through the electric circuit 13 for plasma arc generating, i.e., plasma current Ic is detected by the electric current detecting means 11, based on the difference between the detected signal of electric current detecting means 11 and reference signal, the DC power unit 2 is controlled so that the DC current Ia is turned to fixed value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
